ISOK9 Training Approach

Train Longer. Shine Brighter.

Josh has learned/shadowed from certified trainers from California to Texas. Balanced training believes in rewarding desired behavior and correcting unwanted actions often using tools like food, crate training, prong collars and/or e-collars to achieve obedience.

Training Philosophy

I'm Shiny Object

I do not believe every dog should be trained the exact same way. Before anything else, I want to see how the dog thinks, how they respond, what they avoid, what they push through, and what the owner is actually dealing with at home.

Individual Assessment

Every Dog Tells You Something Different

Some dogs need more confidence. Some need more structure. Some need better leash manners. Some need to learn how to settle down and stop making every decision on their own. The first step is figuring out what the dog is showing me before we decide what kind of training makes sense.

Fit First

The Program Has to Fit the Dog and the Owner

Private lessons, board and train, and behavior work are not the same thing. The right choice depends on the dog, the owner’s schedule, the problems we are working through, and how much follow through is needed after training. I want the plan to make sense for the household, not just look good on paper.

Practical Direction

Your Dog Should Learn to Check Back In

“I’m Your Shiny Object” means your dog learns that you are worth paying attention to. When the world gets loud, exciting, or distracting, I want your dog to know how to come back to you mentally. That is where better obedience starts. That is where better handling starts.
